At Stonelaw Preschool, a South Lanarkshire Council partner nursery, we use a flexible, adaptable ‘Planning in the Moment’ approach to learning and teaching. We treat each child as an individual, and place them at the centre of their own learning.

We often ask the children to reflect on their learning and experiences throughout the week and encourage them to suggest where they could take their learning next.

All play, care and learning experiences are interwoven. We have an excellent range of resources which offer varied experiences for the children.

This provides each child flexible learning and a balanced curriculum.

We strive to:

  • Provide a safe and secure environment in which children feel happy and secure

  • Encourage positive attitudes to self and others, developing confidence and self-esteem

  • Provide enjoyable and challenging experiences to meet the needs of each individual child

  • Promote literacy, numeracy and health & wellbeing throughout each area of the nursery

  • Encourage and celebrate children, staff and parent achievements

  • Promote and encourage staff development

  • Encourage all our children to become successful learners, effective contributors, confident individuals and responsible citizens
